One of our greenhouses is open year-round and filled to the brim with a wide selection of houseplants for those who enjoy indoor gardening. The two other greenhouses are open seasonally in the spring and early summer and are used to produce the largest selection of plants in the area. We offer hundreds of varieties of annuals, perennials, vegetables, and herbs, much of which are grown from seed or vegetatively propagated in our own greenhouses, giving us the distinction of being local growers.

In our outdoor nursery area, we grow a wide variety of shade and flowering trees, fruit bearing trees and shrubs, evergreens, flowering shrubs, vines and perennials. During our many years in operation, we have learned a great deal about gardening in the local climate. We offer only “North Country hardy” plants which will survive and thrive in our climate.

We carry the following year-round:

  • Fertilizers and organic pest-control products
  • Pottery - all colors and designs
  • Plastic planters, hanging baskets
  • A variety of soils and soil amendments
  • Mulches
  • Bulbs and seeds
  • Planting tools and other gardening supplies
  • Garden trellises, shepherd’s hooks

We are also pleased to offer seasonal items such as:

  • Spring and Summer blooming bulbs
  • Pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, straw and other fall decorations
  • Mums
  • Poinsettias, Christmas cactus and other holiday plants
  • Handmade wreaths, kissing balls, garland and bows

Our Story

The HHOTT House Greenhouse & Garden Center was founded in 1980, originating as an off-shoot of Citizen Advocates Inc., DBA North Star Industries, and began as a Vocational Rehabilitation Program for adults with varying disabilities. The name HHOTT was an acronym for Horticulture for the Handicapped Offering Therapy and Training. The program was so successful that it opened its doors as a retail business in 1981. In addition to running the business, we continue to run a successful horticulture vocational training program for disabled individuals.

The HHOTT House is the oldest and largest garden center in the Tri-Lakes area and beyond. It comprises three greenhouses and a large outdoor growing area where nursery stock and perennials are produced. One of the greenhouses is open year-round and filled to the brim with a wide selection of houseplants for those who enjoy indoor gardening.
